Live Resin is a Concentrate made using fresh Cannabis that hasn't been dried or cured. Instead, it's flash-frozen to preserve the full flavour profile of the strain, as well as maintaining the terpene profile. This process was developed to ensure that no flavours, aromas or terpenes were lost during the curing process. As a result, Live Resin is one of the more flavourful concentrates.
At SacredMeds we offer a variety of Concentrates, including Live Resin, to help you find the experience that best suits your needs.

What is Live Resin?
Live Resin gets its name from the freshness of the Cannabis used in the extraction process. The aroma of the concentrate itself is said to smell still alive. Unlike other Concentrates, Live Resin is made from fresh, uncured Cannabis Flower and Sugar Leaves. The fresh Cannabis is then flash-frozen, a process that helps maintain the full flavour of the Cannabis Flower. Additionally, this freezing process also preserves all of the valuable Cannabinoids and Terpenes.
As a result, the finished product maintains the same aromas as the live Cannabis Plant itself. By not drying or curing the Cannabis Flower, a greater concentration of terpenes and essential oils remain during the extraction process. This gives Live Resin its signature flavour.
Similar to most other concentrates, Live Resin can be found in a variety of appearances. The consistency and colour of the final product can change based on the original Cannabis plant material used. Also, the overall concentration of terpenes can play a huge role in appearance. Live resin has a higher terpene bill than all other concentrates, with a much higher presence of essential oils.
Because of these oils, Live resin tends to have a much more liquid consistency than all other concentrates. You can generally find it in the forms of Budder, Badder, Sugar and Sap. In fact, some producers have even made Shatter as well. However, it’s much more difficult to achieve Shatter’s brittle consistency when working with such a high terpene profile.
History of Live Resin
The current method of extracting Live Resin was created by Cannabis farmer William “Kind Bill” Fenger. His idea was then perfected with Jason Emo, Cannabis entrepreneur and founder of EmoTek Labs. Kind Bill had been working on the process since 2010 when he started his first legal growing operation dedicated solely to producing concentrates in Colorado.
One day while trimming plants, Kind Bill had an epiphany. It occurred to him that if he extracted the Cannabis plant while the terpene profile was at its peak, he could maintain that same terpene profile in the final concentrate. He tried many different extraction methods, the first of which was BHO, but the results were subpar, and the idea remained on the shelf.
IN 2013, Kind Bill began working as a consultant for A Cut Above medical dispensary in Colorado. They had recently installed a closed-loop extraction machine designed by EmoTek labs. Once Kind Bill saw the machine, he was certain it would be capable of bringing his idea for Live Resin to life. It was then that Kind Bill met Jason Emo, and the two began working on the final process for creating Live-Resin. The two worked together for a month before perfecting the extraction method used to this day.
