What is CBD?
CBD, or Cannabidiol, is the second most abundant naturally occurring Cannabinoid found in Cannabis. Only THC is more prevalent. Cannabidiol is derived from CBDA in s heating process called Decarboxylation. Without heating, CBDA is an otherwise inactive compound. Cannabidiol has a wide array of therapeutic benefits and has quickly become a proven method of treating a variety of symptoms.
How does CBD work?
Cannabidiol interacts directly with the bodies two main cannabinoid receptors. In fact, CBD actually binds to all the receptors in the endocannabinoid system. This binding can provide immediate relief of pain and swelling. Outside of this system, Cannabidiol works with the body’s serotonin receptors. These connections can improve overall mood and help fight symptoms of anxiety and depression.
Medicinal Uses of CBD
All around the world people are leaving traditional prescribed medicines behind. Many patients are looking for more healthy, natural options. This is especially common with Cannabidiol. Not only is CBD all natural, there are no active side effects outside of sleepiness. In fact, most users actually view sleepiness as a positive effect.
CBD can also be used in a variety of ways. Cannabis flower, isolates, concentrates, topicals, tinctures and edibles can all be made with a high CBD content. These products can also be made with very little, or even no THC at all. This allows Cannabis to be taken without providing any of the euphoric effects associated with THC.
For Pain Relief
CBD is primarily used for pain relief, and as an anti-inflammatory. When introduced into your body, Cannabidiol prevents the absorption of another cannabinoid called anandamide, which regulates pain. Because the body isn’t absorbing anandamide, excess quantities of it are generated. These excess quantities are then rushed directly into the bloodstream. As a result, the body actually produces
For Seizures and Epilepsy
One of the major benefits of CBD is its anti-convulsive properties. In small doses Cannabidiol can relieve swelling and calm muscles. However, when doses are increased, it can have a profound impact on regulating muscle tension and stress. In fact, since before the 1900’s, Cannabis has been used as an anti-epileptic. It was even approved by the FDA for treating severe forms of child epilepsy in 2018.
For Depression, Anxiety and Addiction
As recently as 2015, CBD has also been used in the treating of symptoms of addiction. This is primarily attributed to its anti-anxiety effects. CBD has been known to benefit those suffering from symptoms of opioid, cocaine and other stimulant addictions. Additionally, it has been used to treat other anxiety related disorders and depression.
